- Wellness Care and Preventative Medicine
At Myrtle Grove Animal Hospital, our experienced staff will work with you to establish a unique health care plan for your pet based on age, risk factors, environmental exposure and lifestyle. Over time we will adapt the plan to meet the changing needs of your pet as he grows from a youngster to a senior citizen. Through safe vaccination protocols, preventative medicine and periodic blood screening, we will help your friend to live his best life.
- Parasite Control Products
We offer a variety of safe and effective products at competitive prices that eliminate and prevent internal and external parasites. We can develop a yearly treatment protocol for your pet to keep him free of intestinal parasites, heartworms, fleas and ticks.
We can perform a variety of diagnostic tests in our in-house laboratory, many of which can yield results in minutes. Available in-house diagnostics include, but are not limited to, fecal parasite exams, blood glucose monitoring, cytology, blood parasite screening, Parvo testing, FELV/FIV testing, urinalysis, and blood chemistries. We also utilize a veterinary diagnostic laboratory which is capable of performing an extensive menu of tests, with results often available the next day.
The veterinarians at Myrtle Grove Animal Hospital have years of experience with most routine and emergency surgical procedures. Although there is a small risk associated with any anesthetic or surgical procedure, we take every precaution to assure that your pet has a successful outcome. Our patients are fully examined and current blood work is recommended (required if 6yrs or older) prior to any anesthetic procedure. An intravenous catheter is placed to allow for fluid support during surgery. We use some of the safest drugs and anesthetic gas available and vital signs are closely monitored until the patient is completely recovered. Pain control is implemented prior to any surgical procedure, continued during hospitalization and, if needed, after discharge.
Healthy teeth and gums are directly related to a longer lifespan and fresh breath. Dental disease can lead to pain and discomfort, decreased appetite and bacterial infections that can spread from the mouth throughout the body. Your pet’s teeth will be evaluated at each exam and if periodontal disease, tartar or loose teeth are present, a dental cleaning will be encouraged.
Radiographs can be an important diagnostic tool. Digital radiography allows us to take superior radiographs more efficiently, with less stress to the patient and quicker results.
Ultrasound is often used to assess the internal organs, screen for disease or evaluate cardiac function. Myrtle Grove Animal Hospital utilizes the services of a local veterinary ultrasonographer with years of experience. If needed, an ultrasound can usually be scheduled within a couple days, with results often available within 24 hours.
Myrtle Grove Animal Hospital offers boarding for dogs and cats in our new, clean facility. Kennels in quiet rooms as well as large runs are available. Each ward has a separate exit door which goes out to a large, fenced yard where your dog can run and play under supervision. Boarders that are new to Myrtle Grove Animal Hospital are required to have a brief physical exam prior to their stay. Dogs must be free of external parasites, be current on Rabies, DHPP and Kennel Cough vaccinations, and have proof of a negative fecal exam within the calendar year. This protocol helps to ensure that your pet will have a happy, healthy stay with us.

Our cat ward is located at the opposite end of the hospital, away from the dogs. Large cat condos sit in front of glass windows where cats can relax and enjoy the view. Cats are required to be current on Rabies and FVRCP vaccinations and have a known Feline Leukemia and FIV status.

We encourage you to stop by and take a tour of our boarding facilities or call for more information.
